Awutu Winton
Zervio is proud to spotlight a recent project in Ghana delivered by our trusted installation partner, Potentia Engineering Ltd, led by Dan Smith and the wider Potentia team. Centered around Awutu Winton School, this was a meaningful initiative with a simple purpose: help create a more stable, dependable power foundation for the children and staff who rely on the site every day.
The project brought together engineering, teamwork, and time on the ground — the realities that sit behind every successful renewable deployment. Potentia’s team delivered a high-performance solar PV installation designed with long-term resilience in mind, focusing on reliability and practicality rather than shortcuts. It’s the kind of work that’s built to keep performing, supporting day-to-day energy needs and enabling the school to operate with greater confidence.
What makes this project especially powerful is that it wasn’t limited to the installation itself. While in Ghana, Dan and the team also contributed hands-on support to the wider initiative around the school — helping where it was needed, getting involved in practical improvements on the ground, and backing the community in ways that go beyond the technical scope of a renewable system. That additional effort is often what turns a good project into one that truly lands and lasts.
Project highlights included:
A high-performance solar PV system designed for long-term resilience
Engineered to maximise energy efficiency and reliability
Built to support sustainable, real-world energy demands
Zervio’s involvement in the project has been to support the deployment through monitoring, helping ensure the system can be observed once live with ongoing visibility into performance. Monitoring is an important part of long-term reliability — giving operators confidence that the system is doing what it was designed to do, and supporting fast identification of issues if anything needs attention.
Most of all, this story is a credit to the people who made it happen. Huge congratulations to Dan Smith and everyone at Potentia Engineering Ltd for the work delivered at Awutu Winton School, and for the care they brought to the wider initiative while on the ground in Ghana. Zervio is proud to be involved — and proud to partner with teams who build clean energy properly, with purpose and with people at the centre.
