Zervio and Joulen: On-Site Intelligence Meets Market Access

We're excited to announce a new integration partnership with Joulen, the Belfast-based energy flexibility services provider and operator of the PARIS AI optimisation platform.

The partnership brings together Zervio's on-site intelligence and asset control capabilities with Joulen's market access, trading, and flexibility event dispatch — creating a complete stack from device to revenue.

What each side brings

Zervio provides the on-site layer. The Zervio Orbit Edge Controller sits at the asset, delivering real-time telemetry, sub-second polling, and direct hardware control over inverters, battery systems, and metering infrastructure via Modbus RTU. Combined with Zervio Orbit, it gives site operators full visibility over generation, storage, and consumption — along with performance attribution and billing-grade data capture.

Joulen provides the market layer. Their PARIS platform forecasts generation, consumption, and market conditions at granular intervals, then dispatches optimisation decisions across connected assets — unlocking revenue through wholesale energy markets, ancillary services, the Balancing Mechanism, and DNO flexibility events. Joulen holds the UK market roles needed to participate directly in these services on behalf of asset owners.

Why this matters

Until now, many C&I renewable and storage assets have been undermonetised — either lacking the on-site control infrastructure to respond to market signals, or missing the route to market entirely.

This integration closes that gap. The Zervio Orbit Edge Controller provides the reliable, low-latency site interface that Joulen's PARIS platform needs to dispatch flexibility events with confidence. In return, Joulen's trading capability and market registrations give Zervio-connected sites immediate access to revenue streams that would otherwise require significant in-house capability to unlock.

The result is a single, integrated pathway: asset-level control and metering from Zervio, market optimisation and settlement from Joulen.

Built for C&I scale

The integration is initially focused on commercial and industrial sites — particularly those deploying battery storage alongside solar PV — where the combination of on-site intelligence and active market participation delivers the strongest financial case.

For installers, developers, and asset owners, this means a deployable stack with no gaps: commission with Zervio, optimise with Joulen, and start earning from day one.

We're already working with Joulen on live deployment planning and are looking forward to scaling this across the UK as flexibility markets continue to grow. With the Clean Power 2030 target driving unprecedented demand for distributed flexibility, the timing couldn't be better.
